Brandenburg gate
Berlin is a historic city and the capital city of Germany. Berlin has a population of about 3.4 million. Berlin is the largest city in Germany. Among the European Union countries Berlin is the second most populous city.
Berlin has several world-renowned universities, research institutes, sporting events, orchestras, museums. Berlin is famous for its festivals, diverse architecture, nightlife and contemporary arts.
The Fernsehturm (TV tower) is the second highest building in the European Union at 368 meters (1,207 ft). This tower was built in 1969 and can be seen from most parts of the cit. If you go to observation floor of this tower you can see the breathtaking view of the Berlin town from a height of 204 meters.
The Brandenburg Gate is an iconic landmark of Berlin and Germany. Germans are very proud of this historic gate and it is depicted on some of the euro coins. The Reichstag building is very close to Brandenburg Gate and this is the traditional seat of the German Parliament. Any day you can see people lining up in front of the Parliament house to go inside and have a look at the city from the top of the parliament tower.
Gendarmenmarkt, a neoclassical square in Berlin whose name dates back to the Napoleonic occupation of the city, is bordered by two similarly designed cathedrals, the French Cathedral with its observation platform and the German Cathedral. The Konzerthaus (Concert Hall), home of the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, stands between the two cathedrals.
